Our Story

A great story starts with a clear understanding of purpose.

A great story starts with a clear understanding of purpose.

In Robert Lewis’s book RAISING A MODERN DAY KNIGHT, the author speaks about finding your “transcendent cause”, something bigger than yourself that is “truly heroic, timeless, and supremely meaningful”.

Personally, I wrestled with the idea of a personal transcendent cause in the context of my vocation. What is it that we, as financial advisors, do that qualifies as truly heroic, timeless, and supremely meaningful?

While experiencing an outdoor adventure camp with my son in Northern California, called JH Ranch, I encountered a life-shifting concept or idea about “living out your PURPOSE on the PLATFORM of your VOCATION”. Finally, my imagination was fully engaged – that indeed my client relationships could and would transcend merely numbers on a page.

I subscribe to the idea that a change of pace + a change of place = a change of perspective. I can attest to that truth first hand as it was in this distant location - JH Ranch - that Family Tree Financial Services was born. It was there that my vision for FTFS came to life.

I’ve heard it said that when you get your financial house in order, it can literally transform your FAMILY TREE. That phrase, that truth, and yes, that name, took root (pardon the pun).

What is FTFS built upon? What is our organizational transcendent cause? How are we living out this purpose on the platform of our vocation?

We believe there is an epidemic going on in America. That largely, Americans overspend, under save, and are overleveraged and the consequences for many in retirement may be unfavorable, to say the least. It is our mission that your story rise above. It is our mission to bring clarity to your personal financial planning journey. It is our mission to lead people in crafting wealth accumulation and income solutions for life.

Finally, at the level of “transcendent cause”, Family Tree Financial Services exists to partner with people on their personal path of stewardship living, heritage building, and legacy shaping.
